Factory Manager (3 Year Contract)

Roofing & Wire Factory (B5) Vaitele, Samoa

Bluebird lumber & Hardware Co. Ltd is seeking a capable, hands-on Factory Manager to lead the safe, efficient and commercially disciplined operation operation of its B5 Roofing & Wire Factory, supplying Bluebird branches across Samoa.

About the Role

This senior operational role has overall accountability for production, customer service, inventory, dispatch, engineering and maintenance, quality, people and site performance.

PRODUCTION SCOPE

• Roofing iron and bending 
• Chain-link and barded wire
• Pig fence
• Knuckle plat, cutter and nail-related production 
• Mesh wire and slitter 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Turn branch demand and sales forecasts into practical daily, weekly and monthly production plans.
• Deliver branch order in full and on time, with clear prioritization and prompt communication.
• Lead customer service, dispatch, inventory, production, engineering and maintenance teams.
• Control raw materials, work-in progress and finished goods; investigate variance and lead stocktakes.
• Coordinate raw-material requirements with Procurement and Supply Chain to avoid stock outs and excess holdings.
• Set and enforce product specifications, inspections, traceability and corrective-action processes.
• Own site health, safety, security, housekeeping and environmental compliance.
• Maximize machine reliability through preventive maintenance costs within approved budgets.
• Manager labour, overtime, utilities, scrap, rework and maintenance costs within approved budgets.
• Maintain accurate performance records and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports with actions.
• Build team capability through standards, coaching, performance management and training.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing on availability, specifications, new products and customer feedback.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, manufacturing or industrial management, operations, supply chain, logistics or business administration.
• At least five years manufacturing experience, including three years in factory management or senior production leadership.
• Roofing wire, steel fabrication or hardware-sector experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, inventory control, quality systems, safety, preventive maintenance, budgeting and continuous improvent.
• Confident user of ERP/inventory systems and Microsoft Excel/Office.
• Practice leader with sound judgment, integrity, accountability, customer focus and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

SALARY RANGE

From SAT $55,000 per annum, with performance-based benefits.
