Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

British American Tobacco Samoa is seeking to recruit a self-driven, committed and agile individual for the role of Operations Manager.

 Reporting to the Operations Manager Fiji the key accountabilities include:

 

  • Lead the Operations team by ensuring that all manufacturing systems and procedures are consistent with world class performance and best practice to achieve target KPI’s, whilst achieving superior product quality that meets international and BAT Global standards.
  • Champion effective Supply Chain planning cycle that ensures seamless integration with the business objectives Company Planning process, supporting the business commercial agenda.
  • Manage overview of both manufacturing and scheduling processes which includes materials requirement planning and the effective conversion of sales forecasts into production schedules that ensure continuity of supply to the market
  • Implement quality improvement programs and initiatives to increase manufactured quality and to reduce consumer complaints
  • Develop and manage capital expenditure projects for product production machinery, ensuring effective utilization of spend and pursuing all cost optimization opportunities on ongoing basis, including the minimization and control of production waste.
  • Identify and evaluate all existing and potential threats to the operating company’s businesses arising from environmental impacts and/or health and safety risks, recommending corrective and preventative actions to line management
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing team to ensure effective development and execution of any new product introduction and/or product changes, meeting all required standards as per agreed timelines.Maintain production plant and equipment in a “fit for purpose” condition    through maintenance systems developed using IWS principles and support Samoa Operations in driving their performance and achievement of their set KPI’s and targets.
  • Lead the business in supporting innovations to align with BAT Global Sustainability agenda
  • Develop Operations personnel through effective succession planning, development programmes and training programs to ensure that there are sufficient human resources to meet manufacturing targets and goals in the short, medium and long-term
  • Develop Quality processes to achieve production potential through the use of empowerment and self-directed work teams whilst maintaining a safe working environment

 Qualifications and Essential Attributes:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Engineering /related discipline with a minimum of 10 years’ line management experience in a high-speed packaging consumable manufacturing environment.
  • Sound leadership skills and commercial acumen and strategic planning skills.
  • Must possess sound knowledge of IWS principles and ways of working.
  • Sound working knowledge of all Manufacturing company procedures and standards. 
  • Sound working knowledge of the specific machinery and common malfunction that impact machine performance.
