The Opportunity

The Institute of Education at The University of the South Pacific seeks to appoint a reliable Finance Coordinator to join its diverse team, working in the Pacific region. The appointee will be responsible for all financial functions of the Institute including analyzing of financial activities and providing advice and guidance on future and current financial plans. The Finance Coordinator will enable the Director and senior staff to make sound business decisions and meet the Institute’s objective.

The Finance Coordinator will be based in Tonga and will operate mainly within the IOE unit by reporting to the Director and working closely with the Fellows and Corporate staff of the Institute. The Finance Coordinator is expected to play a significant role as the financial associate of the IOE with the rest of the SPACE, other faculties, and with the central University Finance section. The Finance Coordinator will also be expected to communicate with clients from a diversity of countries that work with IOE.

The incumbent is required to demonstrate strong financial reporting skills and analysis abilities. The Finance Coordinator will encounter typical level of stress in any work place with trying to meet deadlines and reporting to Director, IOE staff, clients and donors. The Finance Coordinator is expected to be competent in managing projects and have relevant experience working in related fields. The Finance Coordinator may from time to time be expected to travel on IOE business.

The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicant must have:
- A degree with at least 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the Pacific region; or
- Extensive experience in financial management and reporting; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and training; and
- Knowledge of one Pacific language; and
- Computer literacy.
Preference will be given to applicant with:
- Proven experience as a Finance Coordinator or relevant work experience;
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and multi-cultural team;
- Knowledge of Banner & MIS;
- Proficient in using MYOB and MS Excel;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English;
- Leadership and management skills.

The position is available for a fixed term of 2 years.
Salary Range:   TOP $46,603 to TOP $57,061
