AVI (formally known as Australian Volunteers International) an Australian not-for-profit international development agency.  Since 1951, AVI has facilitated effective development outcomes working side by side with over 3,000 partner organisations, governments and community organisations in 89 developing countries. 

AVI is the contract holder with the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, to recruit and engage a Project Coordinator to work on the COMBAT-AMR project.

Our client, Doherty Institute, is an unincorporated joint venture between the University of Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital, combining research, teaching, public health and reference laboratory services, diagnostic services and clinical care in infectious diseases and immunity.

The Project Coordinator provides coordination and administrative support to an international team funded by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security to deliver a multi-country, capacity building and training program to improve prevention and response to antimicrobial resistance in the Pacific region.  A key focus of the role is managing day-to-day project activities, including organising meetings, arranging training workshops, making travel and accommodation bookings, managing reports, other administrative tasks and supporting the work of the technical team as outlined by the Project Manager. 

The Project Coordinator is required to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and initiative and will work collaboratively with partner organisations nationally and advisers from an international team. The Project Coordinator will be required to be highly organised, communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, and set priorities to assist in completion of project activities. 

The position is open to nationals and permanent residents with authority to live and work in Samoa.

Remuneration:

An attractive package shall be negotiated with the successful candidate based on their appropriate experience  and skills.
