Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Reporting to the Director, this is a highly visible position that involves close interaction with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and business partners.

The person acting in this role provides support to key insurance management initiatives which includes the management of the organization s insurance program. Key objectives include:

1. Support Director(s) in managing day to day insurance activities and maturing the organization’s Insurance strategy;

2. Effectively manage and drive continuous improvement within the organization s insurance risk management programs.


  • Minimum of 10 years experience working within the insurance and /or risk management department of a major corporate enterprise.
  • Experience in and working knowledge of the development, negotiation, implementation and management of complex international insurance and bonding programs (power and utilities, renewable energy or construction industry experience would be a strong asset);
  • Working experience with legal documents reviews and contract negotiations;
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills to effectively engage key stakeholders, and the ability to present to all staff levels including senior management;
  • High level of competency utilizing common computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and fluid deadlines;
  • Ability to work in team environments with remote team members;
  • Advanced degrees in risk management, insurance, finance, and business management are a strong asset;
