The appointee will be responsible for the overall management of the operation and general maintenance of analytical equipment which may include ICP-OES, CHN Analyser, AAS, Nitrogen Analyser, Bomb calorimeter and Autoclave. Program and calibrate climate instruments such as automatic weather station, PAR data loggers and sensors, plant measuring instruments such as leaf area meter, canopy analyser and photosynthesis unit.
The appointee will be responsible for: undertaking Senior Technician duties; overall management of Campus laboratories; supervise all Laboratory Technicians; prepare analytical standards working standards and quality controls; maintain laboratory facilities, equipment and materials in optimal operational condition; and generate income through analysing soil, plant and animal feed samples from farmers, MAF, MNRE and SPC.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have: Postgraduate qualification or progress towards Postgraduate qualification in Laboratory Science or related field and extensive experience in Laboratory; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/ or education/ training; knowledge and experience in the operation and general maintenance of analytical equipment; ability to liaise with overseas laboratories in ordering equipment; knowledge and experience with computer programs; ability to provide training for technicians with new laboratory technologies; experience in the management and supervision of paraprofessional staff; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
